Five on Friday! Football Edition

THE GOOD LIFE BLOG

Linking up with Five on Friday!  Well it's here...Football Season.  Woohoo!!  So this Five on Friday is dedicated to football and our favorite team.

{ONE} Absolutely love this video. Watch out...the song is catchy. I found myself singing the chorus. Arkansas Razorbacks, this is our yeaaaarrr. Fight, fight, fight. We'll never yieeeelldd.

{TWO} Football and smocked...how much more southern can you get?  This outfit is to die for. Unfortunately it's too small for our girl, so I'm going to sell it.  Let me know if you are interested.

{THREE} I saw this pic on Instagram yesterday. How cute! I'm definitely going to do this, with razorback colors of course.

{FOUR} I really want a razorback wreath for our door. Here are a couple I came across that I really like.

{FIVE} Bryson's valentine box this year was a razorback. We had lots of fun making this.  Oh, and excuse the hair.  Picture was taken prebrushing.

Happy Friday!!

Midweek Randoms

Linking up with Megan for Midweek Randoms!
  • Hallie has preschool pictures today. She loves her glasses. She absolutely refused to take them off for a quick before school pic.

  • Hubby and I decided to get away this weekend. We are headed up to Branson. I have always wanted to do a zip line.  Just maybe this will be the time since we'll be kidless.

  • We got Bryson's test scores from his 2nd grade standardized test. So proud of him. His math total was 97%, which means he did better than 97% of all the students taking the test across the nation. He is his mother's child :)

  • Last night we got our first eggs from our chickens. Finally!! Aren't they beautiful?

  • According to my Facebook newsfeed and all the pics of pooches, Monday was National Dog Day.  So in observance of the day, here are our 2 four legged family members, Buster and Sadie.

  • I have gained 8 pounds over the last 3 months. Its really not the weight that bothers me. What bothers me is that my clothes are starting to not fit as good. I'm getting frustrated. I work out. I could eat better, but here lately it just seems like I can never get full. I've seriously questioned whether or not I could be pregnant although I know there is absolutely no way I could be. I've recently heard about chia seeds. They expand in your stomach and are supposed to make you feel full. I may give them a try, but I need to research more first to make sure they are safe and healthy.

Weekend Recap

Unexpectedly we were without kids Friday night. Bryson stayed with his dad and my mom text me around 7:30 that she would keep Hallie. It was late so we couldn't really do anything. But I had visions of sleeping in on Saturday until I remembered that I told Sarah I would be at bootcamp at 8:30. Had I have known it was going to be outside I might have accidentally overslept...hehe. This momma does not handle the heat very well. I like to exercise in nice cool air conditioned buildings.

Saturday we went to a bowling birthday party for Bailey and Brody. David and I both got our exercise chasing Hallie around. She made it out to the lane once and fell since it was so slick. I was right behind her and nearly took a fall myself. That would have been hysterical.

This girl did not eat any of the cookie, but she made sure she got every last bite of icing off of it.

We left the party 20 minutes early to rush over to my grandma's for her 80th birthday.  I think she gets lots of joy from these two.

After driving for about 10 minutes on the way to grandma's, Bryson gasped as he realized he left his shoes at the bowling alley and still had bowling shoes on. We were able to get a hold of Sara so she could get his shoes. Now I have a pair of bowling shoes I need to return.

Sunday was the usual....church, chores, and family time. During Hallie's nap time, I sat with Bryson and played Snap Circuits. He got this for Christmas and still hadn't played with it. We both enjoyed it.  I highly recommend it for any young boys.

In the evening, the kids played outside in the water. Bryson was riding on Hallie's tricycle and going through her car wash. She thought it was so funny. Love them so much!

5 on Friday

Happy Friday!  I'm linking up for 5 on Friday for the first time!

{One} I love how little ones get so much joy from the simplest things.  Hallie was so happy about the toilet paper tube she put on her arm.  Oh, to be little again.  This just reminds me to slow down and take pleasure in the little things.

{Two} I always hear some parents complaining about how much money they had to spend on their children’s school supplies.  Well, I’m pretty proud of myself.  By watching and shopping the back to school sale ads, I was able to get everything on Bryson’s school list for around $15.  I can’t complain about that.

{Three} I’m almost ashamed to admit this.  Hello, my name is Misty and I’m a Candy Crush addict.  Lately this game is really frustrating me.  I’m thinking about deleting the app from my phone.  I am stuck on level 245.  How many levels are there?  I’m ready to be done.  I feel like I’m a little kid again trying to beat all the levels of Super Mario.  If I could just see some end in sight, I might feel better.

{Four} I heard an interesting question on the radio this morning.  If you were given $10,000 and had to spend it in 24 hours, what would you spend it on?  Oh, and you cannot use it to pay bills or any debt.  I instantly knew my answer.  A nice vacation or several mini vacations.  I love vacations.  I just love getting away from the everyday busy life, seeing new things, and making memories with those I love the most.  What would you do with $10,000?

{Five} I am finally finishing the book The Help after over 2 years.  I started reading the book while I was pregnant.  Baby came and book got pushed aside, like so many other things.  I only had about 150 pages left.  I’m ready to finish it so I can finally see the movie.  I absolutely refused to watch the movie until I finished the book.  I’ve enjoyed getting to read something besides blogs and magazines again.  Any suggestions for the next book?

Midweek Randoms

Linking up with Megan today.  This is my first link up ever.  I’m new to this, so hopefully I get it right.  If I don’t get it right, please feel free to help.
  • Dog update.  The dog is so cute, sweet, and great with the kids.  However, we do have a problem.  She chews EVERYTHING.  I understand the shoes we leave on the deck.  But the plastic box on the house covering the outlet???  I need to do some googling to figure out how to get her to stop.  Oh, and we do have tons of chew toys out there for her, so it’s not like she doesn’t have something to chew on.
  • I have read about monthly subscription boxes for kids on several blogs.  I always thought what a great idea, but they seemed too young for Bryson.  So, I went on a search for a box I thought an 8 year old boy would like.  And I found the perfect box or at least I hope I did.  We’ll see when the first one arrives.  We subscribed to The Magic School Bus Monthly Science Kits.  I haven’t told him.  He’s going to be super excited when it gets here.

  • The hubby’s garden is doing great.  I am so proud of him.  Last year was our first garden and it was a flop.  This year he did a regular garden and straw bale gardening.  I really need to take a pic.  We have lots of tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, and peppers.  Speaking of peppers, I came across this the other day on Pinterest.  I thought it was hilarious!

  • This morning.  Love these two!!!

First Day of Third Grade

I took Bryson to school for his first day.  This year he goes to a different school.  He didn't seem nervous as all.

To celebrate his first day, I brought home some delicious cupcakes and the new Disney Infinity game he's been wanting.  He had money he was saving for the game.  He didn't quite have a enough, so we covered the rest.  I hid the game in the pantry and he was one happy boy when he found it.  And these pictures are a great reminder that I don't need to only rely on my phone camera...haha.

Weekend Recap

Friday afternoon the boys got haircuts.  They came home with an awesome surprise.  A month or so ago, we took in a stray dog.  We didn’t put her in the fence.  After a week, she was gone.  I was a little sad.  Later, we thought we seen her in another person’s yard.  David stopped once and no one was home.  One the way home from haircuts, he stopped again.  The dog didn’t belong to them.  They just found her.  He got to bring her home…YAY.  This time we put her in the fence.

Saturday was spent finishing up school shopping for Bryson.  We went early so it wasn’t too crazy.  Even though it was just school shopping, I enjoyed the one on one time with my little man.

Sunday was our back to school service at church.  We had some entertaining guests and prayed over all the kids.  Bryson asked if we could go to Chili’s for lunch after church.  I thought why not for back to school.  I guess I didn’t take into consideration that it would be Hallie’s nap time.  Or maybe I did and thought she would do ok.  Boy, was I wrong!  Even though she was cranky, she was still so darn cute.

Five on Friday

  • I have made a new commitment to blogging.  I really want to document all the important things in our lives.  It makes me sad to scroll through the over 7,000 pics on my phone and not have any words to go with them.  My goal for now is 3 posts a week.  I can do this!!!

  • I had the crazy dream this week.  JT is my fav male celebrity.  He is just so cute and funny.  I had a dream nightmare that JT and Dr. Vogel from Dexter where making out.  Creepy!

  • This weather has been crazy.  I don’t remember ever having summer weather like this, but I ain’t complaining.

  • I got a call from Hallie’s preschool principal.  She was just calling to give the parents an update.  She said that Hallie was running the class.  I immediately pictured Miss Bossy pants giving orders….sit down, shut the door, move.  The principal continued to say that she is such a delight and helping the younger kids that haven’t figured things out yet.  WHEW!  For a second I thought she was in trouble.
  • Came across this on facebook.  I'm game!
