Weekend Wrap Up: Crystal Bridges

Friday evening I enjoyed a little shopping trip to Walgreens ALONE.  I know...so exciting, huh?  But I did get pretty pumped about some cool spoons and disney chapstick I found in the clearance section.

Later that evening I was picking up toys before putting Hallie to bed.  Homegirl was literally less than 5 feet away from me when she decided to lather up her hands with some lip gloss and leave some hand prints on the couch.  She also thought the Ipad needed some lip gloss.  Oh that girl!!!

Friday night we stayed up to 1:00 watching The Hunger Games. Bryson recently read the book. I told him once he once done, we would watch the movie together. Unfortunately it’s not a movie suitable for sister, so we had to wait until she went to bed to start watching it. Bryson insisted on popcorn and coke. I might have wanted some also, especially after the lip gloss fiasco. He’s now reading Catching Fire and looking forward to our next movie night. This might just become a tradition.

We headed up the hill Saturday to visit the Crystal Bridges museum for the first time.  Sis and I were matching in our camo and denim.

We stopped on the way and ate at Chuy’s. We all thought it was pretty good except for Bryson.  It wasn’t exactly like his Juanito Special he gets at the local restaurant.

Chuy’s gives the kids push pops when they finish their meal. Hallie really enjoyed her first push pop.

Crystal Bridges was really neat. It was really busy. I’m not sure if it is always that busy on the weekend, or if it was crowded because it was the first day of some new exhibit. Our first stop was to one of the studios. They had art supplies setup so that everyone could get their craft on. We stayed in the studio for quite some time making bracelets and decorating iphone/ipod holders.

We tried to view some exhibits inside, but Hallie was just too touchy. We decided to head outside. It was a beautiful day, and we really enjoyed the trails.

I’d definitely like to go back when Hallie’s older to view all the inside exhibits.  After the museum, the girls did some shopping at Target while the boys hit up Cabella’s. The kids enjoyed icees from Target, and the adults stopped by Andy’s Frozen Custard on the way home. A great way to end an awesome day.

We went to church and then out to eat on Sunday. In the evening, the hubs and I had to head back up to church for a B Team dinner. We just joined the B Team and will be serving very soon. I really enjoyed fellowshipping with others. Now that we have decided to make this our new home church, I’m excited to start making connections.

Friday Five Favorites

Yippee for Friday!! I’m so ready for the weekend. Work has finally settled down now that I have filed all corporate tax deadlines, and this weekend is supposed to be gorgeous weather.

Here’s a look at some recent favorites.

ONE
I went shopping at a local bi-annual kid’s consignment sale. I bought a cute Halloween outfit and two Hello Kitty Halloween shirts. The shirts still had the tags on them!! Sister is set for Halloween.

While shopping, a little boys Halloween shirt stopped me in my tracks, and I nearly teared up. Why??? Because Bryson had this shirt about 7 years ago. My baby boy isn’t quite a baby anymore :(

Oh, at the kid’s sale, I use a trash can with wheels to shop. I bought a trash can specifically for the sale several years ago. It is used only for the sale and is stored in the garage. I know it sounds strange, but everybody uses a trash can, laundry basket, wagon, etc. while shopping. When I got home, I brought the trash can in with everything I purchased. I began taking everything out. Hallie was super excited about some tennis shoes I got her. I told her she could wear them to school the next day. As she was walking into school the next day, she proceeds to tell the teachers to look at her new shoes and that her mommy got them out of the trash can. I didn’t even try to explain.

TWO
I ran into Carter’s the other day to waist a few minutes. I found some caaaaute clothes that I’m putting on Hallie’s my wishlist. I would have bought the denim chambray shirt, but they only had size 4 left and we need a 3. I may head back this weekend with her to try it on. A little big is ok, right? Just means she can get more wear out of it :)

THREE
Wednesday was dress like a farmer day at Hallie’s school. She was not feeling the overalls at all (which I also got at the kid’s sale), and I seriously thought it was going to be a battle. But once I told her that papa wears overalls, everything was good and she put them on without any resistance….PTL. I had good intentions of making her a cute farmer with all kinds of ideas from Pinterest. But the night before, I was up all night passing a kidney stone. Oh well. I’ll have my work cut out for me when she has to dress like Johnny Appleseed in a couple of weeks.

FOUR
I am continuously amazed at the stuff Hallie can find on YouTube. Recently, she has been watching Elsa makeup tutorials. One day she was being way too quite. I went to check on her. She had my makeup bag. When I asked her what she was doing, she said look at my Elsa tutorial makeup. She was pretty proud of herself.

FIVE
This is the year. The year that Bryson has homework consistently…as in every night. The first week of school was pretty rough. He had several melt downs during homework. It’s better now, but I AM still adjusting to homework every night.

The other night, we were going over his vocabulary words and how to use them in sentences. One word was cherish. I said I will always cherish the ring that my grandmother gave me. Next thing, he’s asking me for the wedding ring from his dad’s and my marriage. I told him I didn’t have it anymore. He was very disappointed. He asked what am I supposed to give my wife. I explained to him that wedding rings aren’t reused. He would have to buy his own. Oh goodness, he has lots of life lessons to learn.

Ok, so I really didn’t have the ring turned into a bullet, but I did think it was funny.

Happy Weekend!!!

What We Have Been Up To - Short & Sweet Version

I have been super busy with work lately due to the corporate tax deadline on 9/15.  I haven't had time to blog in over week, but I want to make sure to document what we've been up to.

Bryson was challenged and participated in the ALS ice bucket challenge.  He challenged his Papa.

Hallie really loves some ranch.

And she’s entertained by greeting cards.  It's the small things, right?

Cuties before church.

She loves this dog from Cracker Barrell.  Think we found our first Christmas present for her.

Bryson drinks fancier drinks than me.

Hallie had her first dentist appointment.  She did good and no cavities...yippee!!

I won a clock at a work luncheon.  Can't you see my excitement???  Haha.  It just might be a re-gift.  Ok, it's really not that bad, but I'd much rather have won the cash prices or gift certificates to local boutiques.  Oh, and apparently I don't know how to hold the clock facing the camera.

First Fall décor was put out.  Hopefully, I'll get the rest up this weekend.

Took my niece out to eat.  Hallie LOVES her.

Sassy pants before church.

Birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese.  During the gun game, Hallie told me to scoot back because it was dangerous.  Silly girl.

Friday Five Favorites

Happy Friday!!  Here's some of my favorites from this week.

ONE
I bought Hallie her first pair of Halloween pajamas this week at Old Navy.  It's never to early for some holiday pj's, right???

Here are some more Halloween pajamas that I have my eye on.  Seriously, how cute are those bows on the ghost?!?!

TWO
Speaking of Holidays....we have been singing this in our house this week.

Yes, that's right.  Christmas music.  We got a letter from Hallie's school that they will be making a Christmas CD this year.  Each class will sing a different song.  I guess they figured we should start now since they are just 3 year olds.  I'm actually enjoying it :)

THREE
We got 2 new baby chicks.  Last night, Hallie and I went check them out.  She's so cute in her undies and boots!

FOUR
Seriously, when did my son get old enough to be reading novels?!?!  He has a goal of making the million word book club this year.  I am so proud of his academic accomplishments.

FIVE
I saw this and just fell over laughing.  Confession time.  Yes, this is me.  I don't floss near as much as I should.

Favorite Things

Good morning!  Today I am linking with Andrea and Erika to share my Favorites under $10.

I am a lover of anything caramel.  My hubby recently bought me the caramel and vanilla marshmallows.  As I ate the first one, I was a little skeptical because it smelt like coffee.  But it was delish and taste nothing like coffee.  I'm looking forward to cooler weather when I can add these to some hot chocolate.

I picked up some salted caramel peanuts on our way to Destin.  Oh my goodness, these are so good!!  I could not stop eating them.  I purposely have not looked for them since because I have no self control with them.  Maybe I'll try again once I meet my goal weight :)

Ok, so my next favorite doesn't actually cost anything.  In act, it actually gives you money.  It's the Walmart Savings Catcher app.  You enter your receipts into the app.  Then, it will compare advertised prices with local competitors.  If a competitor has a lower price, Walmart will give you the difference.  I have only used if for a few weeks, and I'm up to $5.03.  Yay for saving money so that I can buy more stuff :)

Thanks for stopping by.  So what things do you enjoy under $10?
