Weekend recap

The weekend started out with a birthday celebration at La Huerta for a fit fam member.  We waited over on hour for a table, but the company was good.  Sad I didn't get a pic.

Saturday morning, the girl and I headed to Walgreens for a little couponing.  We had a little pizza lunch date followed up by some ice cream.  We returned home for nap time.  Can't fool me with that fake sleeping.

After nap time we headed to target for some more couponing.  Then, we did a little firework shopping to prepare for the weekend.  Hallie got a free firework for being so cute.  Okay, she probably got it because of the money we spent....haha.

We finished up the evening with some bike riding.

We went to church Sunday and Hallie was looking caaaaute.

After naptime. We heading outside to play.  Hallie wanted to get in the pool with her clothes on.  Sure, why not.

Later, we went to eat and did some firework window shopping.  This time she got a free firework at two stands AND we didn't even spend any money.  Score.

We are looking forward to the short work week and July 4th festivities!!

Friday Five

{ONE} I LOVE buying cute little clothes and dressing up my girl.  I am so excited about these two beauties that are on their way to our house.

{TWO} This is my absolute favorite blog post that I have read this week.  It's actually probably in my top five of all time.  I feel like the author took my exact thoughts and composed an excellent post in a way that I never could.  Don't let the title fool you.  It's not about how to keep your kid safe from this or safe from that.

{THREE} I have been slacking lately in my healthy eating and exercising.  First, there was vacation.  I had planned to cheat a little and to exercise everyday.  Instead, I shoved everything that I wanted in my mouth and only exercised once.  I thought I would just get back on track when I get home.  After getting home, my grandma went into hospice and passed away.  This lead to more overindulging and missed exercise.  I was so excited after reading Skinny Meg's blog post.  I'm ready to get back on track and to have some accountability partners.

{FOUR}  We are gearing up for our July 4th gathering.  I cannot wait for lots of food, fireworks, and fun.  I have been scouring Pinterest for some fun games.  My family and friends have no idea what they're in for...hehe.

We love setting off fireworks.  We try to be as careful as possible, but fireworks can be unpredictable at times.  We haven't caused SERIOUS property damage yet.

{FIVE} This picture makes me laugh.  Bryson recently got a headset to play Minecraft with his cousin through xbox live.  Hallie likes to take the headset and talk with cousin Haydin too.  While Bryson's playing Minecraft with Haydin, Hallie is telling him all about Disney princesses.

Fort Walton Destin Recap Day 4

We started the day down at the beach. The red flag was up because of the violent waves, and it was a little on the cool side with the wind. Papaw and Bryson tried swimming, but got in trouble a couple of times for going to deep.

We played in the sand for a little bit and ended up in the pool until lunch time.

We buried the kids in the sand.  Hallie must have thought it was funny because she laughed the entire time.

After lunch, we headed to the Gulfarium. We watched a sea lion and dolphin show and saw lots of animals. Hallie wanted to touch the starfish only five thousand nine hundred and thirty three times. Towards the end, she was so tired because she didn't have a nap. She saw a lady with a stuffed dolphin and had a fit until she got one for herself.  Overall, the Gulfarium was fun, but I don't think we would go back again.

After we left the Gulfariam, we headed to the pier.  It was crazy windy.  The waves were super huge and we had to dodge fishing lures and huge birds.  Not such a thrilling experience.

We headed to McGuire's Irish pub.  This is such a fun restaurant.  They had dollar bills hanging from every nook and cranny.  It's hard to tell in the picture, but those are dollar bills on the ceiling.  I did not see one empty spot.  Most of us got burgers, and they were so good.  I have never seen so many different burger options before.  Bryson also enjoyed a root beer float.  We would definitely go back to this restaurant.

When we got back to the condo, it was bath time for Hallie.  She thought she needed some "screen" on before getting in the water....haha.

Fort Walton Destin Recap Day 3

This was our official first full day at the beach.  It was gloomy and a little chilly with the wind blowing, but Bryson was ready to get into the water.  The last picture shows his face after getting a taste of some saltwater.

I went out in the water about knee deep with Hallie.  I may have fell down with her from a crashing wave....oops.  After that, she preferred to stay in the sand.

We headed back to the room around lunch time for some food and for Hallie to take a nap.  We hung out in the condo waiting for my parents to arrive.  Once they arrived, we headed to Fudpucker's for some dinner.  I thought the food was really good.  Jacky raved about the gumbo.  The kids enjoyed writing on a dollar and finding a special place in the restaurant to display their dollar.

After eating, the kids got their picture taken with an alligator....for a small fee of course.  The worker told Hallie the alligator was around the same age as her.  Hallie wasn't a bit scared of the alligator.

After holding the alligator, the kids enjoyed playing games in the arcade.

Daddy and sissy took a picture by the alligator.
