Friday Favorites

Yay!  We finally made it to Friday.  Time to share some favorites from this week.

I roamed the shoe isle last time I was at Target.  With the temperatures increasing, I've got summer shoes on my mind.  Here are my favorites.  Target will be running a shoe sale next week.  All shoes will be buy one get one 50% off.  I'm thinking I may need to snatch up a couple.   

A couple of weeks ago, Hallie did a glitter photo shoot.  I received the images this week.  These are my favorites.  I'm in love!  Now I just need to buy some frames and figure out where I'm going to hang them.

I shared all our St. Patrick's Day and Easter decorations in my weekend recap.  This Easter tree I made is my favorite.  

I also shared this cuff we gifted my niece.  She loved it.  Seeing her reaction to her gift was a favorite.

Yesterday I did a little bragging on my favorite boy.  He got invited to test for the gifted and talented education program at school.

As part of his application, I had to fill out a form and compare him to his peers.  This was NOT a favorite.  I felt I was not qualified to fill the form out.  I do not know how his peers perform.  Shouldn't this form be filled out by the teacher?!

Celebrating Bryson

Last week Bryson celebrated a birthday.  My sweet, loving little man turned the big one one.  

On his birthday, we ate dinner at Chili's, his pick.

The colors of his cookie cake was a hint for his gift. 

He was super excited about his present, Oklahoma City Thunder game tickets.

In honor of Bryson's 11th birthday, here are 11 fun facts about this awesome kid!

1.  He enjoys playing basketball.  His interest in basketball has really spiked this year.  If it's nice outside, there's a good chance he's shooting some hoops in the driveway.  We have discussed joining a travel team so he can play all year long.  We (hubby and I) aren't sure if we are ready for that time commitment.  #goodbyeweekends 

 

2.  He loves his sister something fierce.  Yes, they have their share of arguments like most brothers and sisters, but he adores his sister.  And she thinks he hung the moon.       

3.  Picture taking is not his thing.  That does not work well with this picture loving momma.  When I really want him to take a picture, I sic sister on him.  She's got bubba wrapped around her finger, and he caves with her puppy eyes.    

 

4.  Bryson loves him some chocolate milkshakes.  Sonic and Chick-fil-a are his favorites.  Friday after school shakes are a tradition.    

5.  His love for God just makes this momma heart explode! Some days I feel like such a failure as a parent, but it's these moments that confirm I'm doing at least one thing right.

 

6.  Bryson is one smart cookie.  He makes straight A's and is working on his reading goal of 1,000,000 words this school year.  Last week, he got invited to test for the gifted and talented education program.  Keep it up bubba!  #collegeaintcheap #scholarshipwouldbenice

7.  Bryson loves being around the elderly.  He had a special relationship with my grandma and grandpa.  He also spends lots of time visiting our elderly neighbors that he calls grandma and granddad. 

8.  He loves coffee.  Yes, my child drinks coffee.  That's the result of being around said neigbor grandparents above.  I'm not sure you can even call it coffee with all the water and sugar that gets added.  I do limit is intake to 1 cup and only 3 days a week.  He gets to pick the days.  I bought him is favorite coffee cup a couple years ago for Christmas.    

 

9.  Bryson enjoys running.  He participates in a voluntary running program at school.  In October, he  ran is first first 5k.  In a couple of weeks, we will run another 5k.

10.  This boy is a gamer.  Minecraft is his jam.  

11.  Bryson has a heart for others, especially the needy.  On our shopping trip to buy goodies for Operation Christmas Child, he wanted to buy the whole store.  It was hard telling him we couldn't buy everything he wanted to.  Our budget was only for 2 kids.  Another time he asked if we won the lottery could we send lots of money overseas to people that need food and medicine.  Absolutely!

Happy Birthday to my little guy.  I love you to pieces!  I can't wait to see what the next year holds for you.  I am so proud and lucky to be your mom.    

Weekend Moments

We did not have any plans for the weekend, but we it turned out to be a fun and productive weekend.  Friday night, the hubby and I decided to go out to eat and to a movie.  I'm so thankful for parents that can keep the kids last minute for an impromptu date. 

We ate at Longhorn's to use the gift card that I tried to use at the wrong restaurant a couple weeks ago.  The only picture I took was of the menu #bloggerfail.  I was so impressed by the little chalkboard section on the menu.  Hubby did not get as excited as I did about it.  He said I'm easily amused.  #itsthelittlethings

Saturday morning, I put out some Easter decorations.  Decorating is not a strong point of mine.  I'm very unoriginal and tend to copy others. #imitationisthegreatestformofflattery.  Most of my inspiration is in this post.

I decided not to decorate for St. Patrick's Day since it's so close to Easter this year.  But I just had to put out this Shamrock hand art that the kids made last year. 

While I decorated, the kids kept busy decorating gingerbread houses.  Yes, decorating gingerbread houses.  #betterlatethannever

In the afternoon, Hallie and I headed to Target for me to pick up a few deals with coupons.  Our tradition is to head to the toy isle before checking out.  This keeps her occupied while I make sure I have all my coupons, cartwheel, and mobile coupons in order. 

After church on Sunday, we ate at our regular Mexican restaurant.  Hallie was super excited that her cousin, Brianna, joined her.  

We gave Brianna a little gift, and she loved it.  This cuff is from Little Bits of Grace.  I love Farmgirl Paints cuffs as well.  However, they are not always open for orders.  I was very pleased with Little Bits of Grace and would definitely buy from them again. 

Bryson had a friend come home with us from church.  As usual, he protests my pictures.  #takelessonsfromyourfriend 

Friday Favorites

Yay for another Friday!  Let's get right to it.  Sharing some favorites from this week.

Ok, well technically the first one is a favorite/non favorite.  Bryson ran his first 5k in October while on our Disney cruise.  Obviously, that's a favorite.  I ran with him.  That's the non favorite part....well kind of.

You see, I hate running.  I love working out, but spinning, bootcamp, and lifting is more my thing.  I think running is so boring, and if I do too much running, one of my knees starts to hurt.  Plus, I'm super slow.  Well, maybe not that slow, but it appears that way next to all my fast friends.  

Bryson wants to do another 5k in a few weeks.  I started running again this week.  Surprising, it wasn't that bad.  I think I may have experienced a little runner's high.  I'm sure the feeling will fade by next week.

Little girl clothing is a favorite.  This week was a Matilda Jane release.  I did good, practiced some restraint, and only ordered a couple things...probably because I cleaned Hallie's closet last weekend and complained about how much she has.

I've been following a new little girls clothing company on Instagram.  Their products are supposed to be available this Spring.  So far, I'm loving everything I see.  My favorite is dressing sister up, and I'm going to enjoy while I can.  She'll become opinionated in clothing choices soon enough.

Yesterday was my favorite boy, Bryson's, birthday.  I need to do a full recap.  Short version....the family went out to eat at his choice.  He loved his birthday present.  We will be heading to a game next Friday!  

Last Friday, I mentioned looking for Easter outfits.  Well, mark that off the checklist.  Now moving on to Easter baskets.  I love the list Jenny posted.  Hallie would love that mermaid tail blanket.  I'm still struggling with ideas for Bryson.  Y'all, it's so hard to buy for a preteen boy!  Any suggestions?  He needs and wants nothing.  I'm lost.

Weekend Moments

The weekend was low key, and I'm totally okay with that.  Friday morning started with a trip to the gym followed by Chick-fil-a...which defeated the whole gym trip.  Oh well.  There's always next time.  Then, I headed to my favorite nail salon to use the certificate I got for Valentine's Day.  Chick-fil-a plus pedicure equals love!

That evening we headed to Five Guys to eat.  Once again, defeated the gym trip.  I'm seeing a recurring pattern.  No wonder my pants are getting tight.  Then we headed to Target where I picked up a few things from the dollar spot.

Friday and Saturday included binge watching Fuller House.  Yes, it was a little cheesy, but I enjoyed it.  I'm totally team Matt!

Saturday was a super lazy day.  We didn't even leave the house.  I stayed inside and started to clean out Hallie's closet while hubby worked outside in the yard.  Hallie spent her time going back and forth.  She ran inside to show me the lady bug she caught.  She loves lady bugs and she kept for a couple of hours.

After all that outdoor playing and bugs, it was time to clean up. 

Sunday after church, Hallie had a glitter photo shoot.  I cannot wait to see the proofs.  Hallie is obsessed with this dress.  She calls it her Jasmine dress.  She asked if I was going to sell it.  I told her yes, it was getting too small.  That just broke her heart.  Don't worry sister.  Mommy will find you another one.

She came home to a surprise.  My mom left her a baby alive.  She has been wanting one, thanks to some YouTube videos.  This doll eats playdoh food and poops it out.  I just had to laugh when the doll said...I think I made a stinky. 

When it was finally time to relax and kick my shoes off, I saw that I made it home with some glitter from the photo shoot.  A little glitter never hurt no one!
