10 on Tuesday - A Day in the Life of Us

A "day in the life" post has been on my to do list forever.  The main reason I blog is to document life.  What better way to document life?!  The day I documented was a Monday.  My Monday-Thursday pretty much follow the same routine.    

1.  I woke up at 5:11 and changed the alarm clock to go off at 6:00 instead.  It was a rough night with Hallie coughing throughout the night.  Plus, I just washed my hair yesterday which means I can skip my wash this morning and sleep in a little longer.

I always check the weather before picking out mine and the kids clothes for the day.  I really wish I would pick them out the night before, but by the time I finally slow down and sit done, I am D.O.N.E.

2.  Around 6:30 I start waking up the kids.  Bryson is super easy to wake up.

Hallie is a different story.  Notice how it's darker in her room.  I only turn on the closet light and not the room light.  She gets super cranky if I turn the room light on.  It's a long process to get her up.

3.  Around 7:15, Hallie and I leave for school.  We give bubba hugs and kisses before heading out the door.

4.  Hallie gets dropped off a school around 7:40, and I arrive at work around 7:45.  It's so convenient that I work so close to the school.  Once at work, I drop my 4 bags.  The 4 bags I always carry to work are my purse, gym bag, food bag, and tote with my planner and other work/school papers.  

5.  After getting settled, I eat breakfast.  Breakfast is always either oatmeal or a protein bar.

I usually need a snack between 10:00-11:00.  Snack almost always consists of a hard boiled egg provided by our lovely chickens in the backyard.

6.  Lunch time is my gym time.  Monday and Wednesday I teach a cycling class.  On Tuesday and Thursday I attend a bootcamp class.  From time to time, I will also teach the bootcamp if a sub is needed.

7.  Today, I got a text from hubby around 4:30.  Hubby gets off work before I do and takes Hallie to dance.  He's the best dance dad.  He sent me a picture of Hallie trying on her recital costume.

8.  I got off work at 5:30.  Unfortunately the trip home included a stop by Wal-Mart for a few needed things.

9.  By the time I got home, everyone had already ate dinner.  This happens very frequently.  Hubby goes to work very early and that means he eats breakfast and lunch earlier.  He is starving by the time I get home around 6:00.  I'm okay with that though.  It's nice to come home and not have to worry about cooking.  In the evenings, we either spend time together as a family or tag team with the kids.  Tonight was a tag team night.  I played with the kids while hubby took care of the chickens.  We played UNO.  Once he finished, he painted Hallie's nails while I did some laundry.

10.  The kids start taking baths between 8:00-8:30.  Confession time.  Hallie didn't get a bath because her nails needed to dry.  It was rainy, so she didn't get all nasty and sweaty from playing outside, so it's okay to skip a bath, right? I finally sat down around 9:30 and watched a little TV while playing around on the computer. I head to bed around 10:30.  I read a devotion from the First 5 app and then finally went to sleep around 11:00.  It's off to dream land for a little bit before getting up and repeating all over again.

Weekend Moments

This weekend was full of a little bit of fun with some productivity mixed in.  The in-laws are coming in this week, so a lot of time was spent cleaning the house.  

I got a massage Friday afternoon before picking up Hallie from school.  Some of the techniques used were new to me.  I still haven't decided if I like it more than the massage I am used to.  After picking up Hallie, we drove to a boutique in another town about 20 minutes away.  I got three new comfy dresses for this summer.  We also went to a little children's boutique.  Hallie got some new flip flops that she is in love with.  

Saturday morning, we attended our grow group for church.  Grow group is just our name for our small groups.  We have enjoyed the past few Sundays fellowshipping with others.  After our grow group, we headed to a birthday party for one of Hallie's classmates.  The theme was hoedown, and she had a blast.  The highlight for her was riding on the horse.

After the party, we stopped by Starbucks on the way home.  This girl loves some cakepops.  Gets it from her momma.  Momma may have had one too.  

Saturday evening we visited my beautiful niece before her prom.  Hallie asked if Brianna was getting married and if her and her date were going to kiss.  She also proclaimed that kissing was gross.  I agreed with her and told her kissing was gross until you get married.  Fingers crossed she still thinks that way in high school  

Sunday was the usual, church and then out to eat.  We went to Sam's after eating.  My shopping assistance was looking too cute.

We picked Bryson up from his dad and headed home.  On the way home, we stopped to pick some flowers on the side of the road.  I'm thinking we need to do that more often. 

The kids are really excited that mamaw and papaw will be here in a couple days. Hoping for some good weather so that we can plan some outdoor fun.

Friday Favorites

Here we are.  Another Friday.  Seriously, how is it already April 15.  Oh, and typing that date reminds how happy I am that I am no longer in the public accounting industry.  I actually didn't prepare many tax returns.  I did mostly auditing, but the hours were just as long.  But enough talk about that, let's talk about some favorites.  Today, I'm sharing some of my favorite online boutiques.

One of the first online boutiques I bought from was The Blue Door Boutique.  My style tends to lean towards cute and comfy, with extra emphasis on comfy.  I can always find a great selection on their website that meets my criteria.  Here are just a few pieces currently on their website that are totally me.

I actually purchased the dress below.  It looks like a perfect dress for this summer...cool, comfy, and cute detail with the bottom ruffle and keyhole back. 

The Mint Julep Boutique is another online boutique I have bought from for several years.  Here a couple pieces I have my eye one.  I have been wanting a peplum top.  I'm just not sure if that style would be flattering on me.  I really need to try one on first.  I do think that the dress kind of looks like pajamas, but maybe that's the way I would wear it.  Confession...I wear short sleeve piko tunics as pajamas.   

My favorite local boutique located in Fort Smith, Arkansas is Hazel's Haven.  New arrivals are frequently posted on their Facebook page or Instagram page.  What I love most about Hazel's Haven is the unique pieces that offered.  I highly recommend following their Instagram page.  It seems more items are posted on there.  I have shopped several times from their Instagram page.

Friday Favorites

Yay!  We finally made it to Friday.  Time to share some favorites from this week.

I have expressed my love for Matilda Jane Clothing several times.  This week Hallie wore a new favorite dress from Matilda Jane.  I know I'm bias, but I think she's so stinkin cute!

We pair lots of Matilda Jane with some of our favorite shoes, converse.  The school playground is not kind to these shoes.  Hallie comes home with black on the toes every. single. time. she wears them.

I'm linking up with Kelly's Korner to share my favorite cleaning trick for these dirty toes.  It's so simple.  Two words...MAGIC ERASER.  Yep, that's it.  Just use a magic eraser.  I spent no more than two minutes on cleaning these shoes up.  What a difference!

This week I received an unexpected note and gift card.  This was absolutely a favorite.  I've had some trials come up in the past couple of weeks.  The sender had no clue about my recent struggles.  This was a great pick-me-up.  This makes me want to make an effort to send notes or little gifts to others.  You never know what others may be going through and how much of a blessing you may be.  

We got Hallie's school pictures this week.  School pictures are always a favorite.  However, I did get a little sad when I compared the current picture to previous ones.  Baby girl, stop growing up!

Bryson and I had to attend middle school orientation for him to pick his classes for next year.  The students have to pick either band or choir.  Bryson chose band and that was a favorite for this former clarinet playing band member.  We go in a couple weeks to test out different instruments.  Right now, he has his heart set on the trumpet.

I am a little embarrassed to mention my next favorite from the week.  Bryson downloaded Plants vs. Zombies app, and I am hooked!  Please tell me I'm not the only one that plays your kid's games.

Spring Break Branson Trip Recap Day 2

After we woke up and got ready, we headed to Billy Gail's for breakfast.  The pancakes are ginormous and hang over the plate.  This is a great breakfast place, but tends to get very busy.   

After we stuffed our bellies, we headed to Silver Dollar City.  It was so cold.  It was in the 30's, but we were hoping it would warm up.  It was so cold, the roller coasters were not running.  Sister was not feeling the cold, but she perked up as soon as she got on her first ride. 

When it's 30 degrees, what do you do?  Ride a giant swing carousel that goes round and round and makes it feel like the temperature is in the teens. 

All smiles on her first ride.  It's funny how she forgot about how cold she was once she got on a ride. 

Papa turned her round and round on the teacups.  She thought it was hilarious and laughed so hard.

We went into a few shops to try to warm up.  While browsing in the stores, sister enjoyed a little cotton candy. 

It was just way too cold, and we couldn't hang any longer.  I tried to call Dixie Stampede to get reservations.  We always enjoy Dixie Stampede.  It's a great show, and the food is really good, especially since you have to use your fingers to eat.  Unfortunately, all the shows were sold out.  We decided we would head to Grand Country to check out their shows since we got some free tickets from our condo rental owner.  We ended up going to the Comedy Jamboree show.  It was very entertaining.  After the show, we had a little fun in the passion factor chair.  Papa got boring, and nana got cold.  Too funny!  Bryson got teaser.  Before Hallie got on, I said she is going to be either wild or uncontrollable.  Sure enough, she got uncontrollable.  After having fun on the chair, we headed to the next building over to the Grand Country Fun Spot.  The kids (and some adults)  had fun playing games.   

  

We worked up an appetite and decided to go eat dinner at Lambert's.  This restaurant is known for being home of the throwed rolls.  When you want a roll, you raise your hand and someone will throw one to you.  This restaurant also tends to be very busy.  We only waited about 30 minutes this time, but we have waited an hour before.     

You will not leave this place hungry.  In addition to your meal, they serve other sides family style.  The fried potatoes are my favorite.  I got a steak.  My parents got the catfish and raved about it.  Bryson loved his pulled pork sandwich.  Hubby devoured his chicken fried steak. 

We wobbled out to the car to head back to condo.  It was to time to rest up for another try at Silver Dollar City the next day.
